What To Do While You Wait For Us
Contain the water inside
Buckets under active drips; move furniture, electronics and documents clear. A deliberate small hole in a bulging ceiling, drained into a bucket, is far better than the whole ceiling coming down at once.
Cut power to the affected area
If water is anywhere near light fixtures, fans or outlets, switch off that circuit at the breaker before going near it.
Photograph everything
Photos and video of the damage inside and out, before anything is moved or cleaned. Your insurer will want it, and so will we.
Stay off the roof
A wet, storm-damaged or icy Chicago roof is genuinely dangerous, and walking on it usually makes the damage worse. Let us assess it.
Emergency Tarping
When it is actively raining or snowing, or the roof is too damaged to repair immediately, tarping stops the bleeding. We install heavy-duty tarps secured properly at the edges and battened down so they survive continued wind — not the loose plastic sheeting that tears free overnight. It is a temporary measure, but done correctly it protects your interior, insulation and drywall until a permanent repair is possible.
